St. Ambrose Church

Parent Meeting regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation Many parents were unable to attend the January meeting, therefore an alternate meeting will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00pm at St. Ambrose Church.   Parents/guardians of students in grade 7 who did not attend the January meeting are required to attend this meeting in order to register their child for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Children’s Liturgy at 11am Mass We are pleased to announce that our Children’s Liturgy Program, held during the 11:00 am Mass. We ask the children to remain with their parents in the church until Father Gary invites them to come forward at the beginning of Mass. More volunteers needed for this program – We welcome high school students and adults. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Barb at the parish office.

High School Youth Group  In collaboration with Monsignor Doyle CSS, St. Ambrose Parish will be hosting a youth group for students in Grades 9-12 on Wednesdays from 2:50pm-4:00pm, beginning March 1st at Monsignor Doyle CSS, in the school chapel.  To register your son/daughter to attend or would like to know more, please email Sarah Kwiecinski, the Coordinator of Youth Ministry at youth@stambrosecambridge.ca

Stations of the Cross will be prayed every Friday of Lent at 7:00 pm. Please join us for this beautiful Lenten devotion and invite your family.

Is your child interested in becoming an altar server? We would like to welcome children in grade 4 and older to become altar servers for our Masses. Training is provided. Please contact the parish office for information.

• Due to the weather conditions, ALL Waterloo Catholic District School Board and Waterloo Region District School Board SCHOOLS AND SITES ARE CLOSED
• ALL SCHOOL BUSES, TAXIS AND SPECIAL EDUCATION ROUTES operated by the WCDSB and WRDSB are cancelled.
• All before and after school programs and child care centres co-located in schools are CLOSED.
• All programs and services offered by St. Louis Continuing Education and Adult and Learning Centres are cancelled

Monday February 20th – Happy Family Day! There is no school today.

Tuesday February 21st – Shrove Tuesday.  School Council will be preparing pancakes for the students as a snack, which will be a supplement to their lunch. Pancakes will be served sometime in the a.m.  A friendly reminder to send in a plate and cutlery in a ziplock style bag that day. We thank our volunteers in advance for their support.

Wednesday February 22nd – Ash Wednesday.  We will have a school service to celebrate the beginning of the Holy Season of Lent.

Thursday February 23rd – Pink Shirt Day. Wear pink to stand up to bullying.

Nutrition For Learning: 

Nutrition for Learning seeks to provide community-based nutrition programs that are universally accessible to all students in the Region of Waterloo.  At Holy Spirit, our students have benefitted from the support of the Nutrition for Learning program throughout the school year. Students have healthy snacks available within their classroom whenever they may need something extra. Items such as fresh fruit (apples & oranges), cereal, granola bars, apple sauce, crackers, yogurt tubes, and cheese strings are offered to students through this program.

Monies are being collected to help support the continuation of this program at our school. 100% of all funds raised will be applied to the purchasing and delivery of food for the program. If you are able to make a small donation of $2 or more, please do so on School CashOnline.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Nutrition for Learning program. Your support means a great deal to all the students served.

 Dole Whip Days
On February 16, students have the opportunity to purchase Dole Whip, just like at Disney World! This will be offered on Tuesdays for the month of March.
Dole Whip is a lighter, better-for-you frozen treat that is made with no artificial colours, and bursting with sweet flavour. It’s also gluten and dairy free. Each 8 oz cup is $5 and will be delivered right to your child’s classroom. This month’s flavours include a choice between Pineapple or Strawberry.
Dole Whip February orders will be available for purchase on School Cash Online from February 16th –March 1st. Please note, after March 1st, the orders will be closed for the month.  Please bring your own spoon.

Domino’s Pizza Fundraiser! Let’s Make Tuesday night PIZZA NIGHT!

Domino’s Pizza (Franklin Drive location) is offering a fundraiser in support of Holy Spirit on Tues. Feb. 7th.

Order a 3-topping pizza for $15, and $5 per pizza will be donated to Holy Spirit.

DOLE WHIP! Students who ordered Dole Whip will have their Dole Whip delivered to them starting tomorrow. Please bring your own spoon.  The next round of orders will be at the end of March.

Cariboo Math Contest: The next math contest can be completed on either Wed. Feb. 15th or Thurs. Feb. 16th. Any student who wishes to participate is welcome!

Valentine’s Day: Classroom Teachers will send out more information; but for your planning purposes, we are returning to previous practices and students will be allowed to exchange cards and nut free treats (prepackaged) with each other on this day.
