Dear Families

Earth Day is Sunday April 22nd. Below are the events our school EcoTeam has planned for the week:

Recycling Monday – Wear green & blue and commit to recycling, reducing, and reusing.

Trashless Tuesday – Please remember to bring your snacks, lunch, and water in reusable containers or bottles! Our goal is to be trashless today and every day with our Boomerang lunches.

Water Wise Wednesday – Do your part to save water!

Yard Clean-Up Thursday! We are Earth Stewards and will help clean up our schoolyard.

Energy Saver & Earth Hour Friday – Play outside more and play with electronics less! We will also have Earth Hour from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Grades K-6 and 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. for Grades 7-8.

Congratulations to our student leaders for planning this week!

Hello Families

Here is some news items and information for this week:

1. Super Mario Movie Trip is this Thursday. SchoolCashOnline closes tonight for you to sign up.
2. Dole Whip will not be delivered tomorrow due an issue with the supplier. Tomorrow’s delivery has been rescheduled for Thursday April 27th.
3. PA Day Friday April 21, thus no school for the students on this day.
4. Dole Whip Days: May orders are approaching. Once again, students will have the opportunity to purchase Dole Whip, just like at Disney World!
   Dole Whip is a lighter, better for you frozen treat that is made with no artificial colours , and bursting with sweet flavour . It’s also gluten and dairy free . Each 8 oz cup is $5 and will be delivered right to your child’s classroom. This month’s flavours include a choice between Strawberry or Watermelon.
   Dole Whip May orders will be available for purchase on School Cash Online from April 19th to April 27th Please note, after April 27th , the orders will be closed for the month.
   Thank you for supporting our Grade 8 community.
5. Morning Drop Off: We have noticed a serious and troubling trend recently of cars stopping on the road in front of the school to drop off students at the morning bell.  With the significant traffic at that time, including students disembarking from buses, it is critically important for student safety that parents/guardians refrain from stopping on a busy road for drop off.  When you do so, you are not only stopping traffic on Gatehouse Drive, but obstructing a clear view of the road when many students and pedestrians are crossing it.    Please use the church parking lot, or school parking lot before and after bus arrival, to drop off your child/children.  Student safety is paramount.  Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Happy Easter Flames!

We hope you are having a wonderful weekend and we look forward to greeting our students tomorrow morning!  There are two events happening tomorrow that we wish to bring to your attention:

1. Celebrate Easter! In in theme of Easter Parade, the staff and students are encouraged to wear Bunny Ears or an Easter Bonnet!  Prizes will be awarded for the top most creative Easter Bonnets!
2. Our last Dominos School Fundraiser Night for this school year will be Tuesday also.  Order a large 3 topping pizza online using the code SGIVE and we will get $5 back per pizza. Thanks for your support!

Dear Families

Happy Holy Week! This week the staff and students are participating in activities as we walk with Jesus in Jerusalem.  It started with a Hoy Week Prayer Service this morning  and will end with the Stations of the Cross on Thursday.  A friendly reminder that Friday is Good Friday and there will be no school, nor will there be school on Monday April 10 for the Easter Monday observance.

This is this last week for our Lenten Food Drive for North of 60. The mystery items for this week are rice, pancake mix and boxed potatoes. We thank you for your generosity.

As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers…. to this extent please send your children with extra socks, pants and shirts in case they get them wet.
