Calling All Children & Youth: We Need to Hear Your Voices!!!

Dear Parents / Guardians, Children & Youth…

We need your help!

Last year the Federal Government launched the “Smart Cities Challenge”, a national competition that encourages communities to come up with innovative technology solutions to their most pressing challenge. The top prize is $50 million!!!

Waterloo Region entered the contest with a focus on healthy children and youth. We want to make our community THE BEST in Canada for kids.

And we were chosen one of just five Canadian communities to compete for the award!

To help us win the $50 million, we are asking you (should you choose to participate) to assist your child(ren) in signing a special petition urging the competition judges to recognize the participation and support we have from local young people to win the smart cities challenge.

The petition is open to ALL children and youth up to age 18 and is available for your child(ren) to sign at: https://bit.ly/2Hnd0yD

Let’s hear all those #WCDSBAwesome Waterloo Catholic District School Board voices!!!

For more information, please visit www.smartwr.ca

You can follow along @SmartWatRegion on Instagram and Twitter. Use #SmartWR #SmartCitiesCanada and #bestcommunityforkids when chatting on social media.

Supporting our School Teams

As the new volleyball and basketball seasons begin, many students have expressed interest in  supporting their peers during home games. We love the enthusiasm and school spirit this brings to our teams. We do however have to keep student safety in mind at all times. Therefore , we are asking that if your child wants to attend a game they must have a signed note from a parent giving them permission to attend the event. This ensures that everyone knows the whereabouts of all students who are in attendance after school hours. Phone calls to the school and text messages will not be accepted. Also, please remind your child that cell phone use during games is not allowed as these events are an extension of the school day and school rules are  in effect. Also, please ensure that you have made arrangements with your child for safe transport home at the conclusion of the game. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at our next home game. GO FLAMES!!

Community Safety: By-Law Enforcement

Hello everyone. We are sending the Holy Spirit Community a direct link to the City of Cambridge By-Law Enforcement page to assist our community with access to information on when and how to report concerns. The page is very user friendly and will help in our continued effort to keep our school and neighborhood safe. The site explains how you can report by-law issues, when to notify police, and lists common by law complaints.  Thank for your continued support.
