Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

God, our Creator, we offer this humble prayer on Christmas Day. We come to worship with a song of thanks in our hearts—a song of redemption, a song of hope and renewal. We pray for joy in our hearts, hope in our God, love to forgive, and peace upon the earth. We ask for the salvation of all our family members and friends, and we pray your blessings on all people. May there be bread for the hungry, healing for the sick, protection for our children, and wisdom for our youth. We pray for the forgiveness of sinners and abundant life in Christ. Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with your love and power.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray.

Amen.

Parish Update

Bambinelli Sunday  At St. Ambrose Parish, you are invited to bring your Baby Jesus figurines from your homes to Mass on Sunday, Dec. 15th at the 9:00am and 11:00 am Mass. After the blessing you are encouraged to take your ‘Bambinelli’ home and wrap it in a box to save it for Christmas. Let this be the first gift you open on Christmas day, as you lay Jesus in the Manger, to allow this moment to be a reminder of the great blessings we receive at Christmas. For the past several decades, the Pope has blessed the Baby Jesus figurines (known as “Bambinelli”) from Nativity Scenes that belong to families in St. Peter’s Square in Rome. The blessing takes place on Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, and is known as “Bambinelli Sunday. ”

Christmas Confessions at St. Ambrose:  Wed. Dec. 18th 6-7pm; Sat. Dec. 21st 9-10am Confessions will also be heard after the Christmas Novena.  Schedule on http://www.stambrosecambridge.ca

This sacrament reconciles us with God and joins us to Him in intimate friendship.

Christmas Mass Schedule:

Christmas Eve Masses will be 5pm; 8pm; and 12 midnight  Christmas Day at 9am; and 11am

Bags2School Initiative

Our Holy Spirit Eco-Team is participating in a textile recycling drive through Bag2School.

Please donate any unwanted clothing – hats, belts, purses, footwear (tied in pairs please) – and soft/stuffed toys. To help raise the maximum funds for your school, please ask your relatives, neighbours and friends to go through their closets too – a team effort makes all the difference!

Textiles will be accepted from January 6th- 14th.

Prize incentives will be awarded to classes that contribute the greatest weight of textiles.

Bag2School will pay our school $200/ton. These funds will go towards the cost of an ECO themed presentation for our school. Thank you for your support of this Eco-Team initiative.

Tree of Warmth

Dear Families,

Did you know that 30 000 Canadians are homeless on any given night? Just in  the Waterloo region there are 264 individuals and families that are homeless. This is why the Student Leadership Team is asking for your help! We are hoping to make a difference by collecting donations of new, or gently used hat, mitts and scarves that will be given to members in our own community from December 2nd to December 16th.

The Cambridge Shelter Corporation has expanded an “Out of the Cold” program that ran in local churches during winter months and has turned into a facility called “Bridges”. This program now includes a year-round emergency shelter and a drop-in centre. It offers support, resources  and hope to help homeless individuals address issues they face and move forward.

They need our help, especially now during these cold winter months. Adult sized hats, mitts and scarves are requested to help keep the homeless warm. We are hoping to donate our contributions to help the “Bridges” program reach the most vulnerable.

We are asking you to help make a difference this Holiday Season and bring some “hope” to those most in need. Please help us fill our Trees of Warmth with hats, mitts and scarves!

Sincerely,

The Holy Spirit Student Leadership Team
