Some Community Updates

Dear Families:

It is a busy time of year for everyone, and we are grateful for your continued partnership and support of the learning that is taking place at Holy Spirit School. This time of year is especially important as we journey together into Advent and celebrate our Faith in a special way. While visiting Mr. Dosen’s class today, we heard him remind his class that Advent calls us to remember Jesus as Emmanuel. He taught them that Emmanuel means “God With Us” because God came to earth to dwell among us and demonstrate his love for us. We will soon light the candle of Hope, and no matter the different challenges we all face, each of us can be certain of God’s love for each of us. This is a truth we remind our students of regularly, and as a community we will reflect upon the blessings of Advent and Christmas together.

Year of Faith: The Pilgrimage Cross is Coming Next Week!

We are very excited that Advent is almost here and we can be reminded of the Hope we have because of our Faith. This is also the year of Faith and each school in our board will have the opportunity to spend time with the Pilgrimage Cross. We hope you are able to join us for our School Advent Liturgy at 1:15PM on Monday, December 4th in the Holy Spirit Gym. All are welcome.

Also, If you are curious what the Pilgrimage Cross is about, there is a video link below. It is less than 2 minutes to watch, but will really inform you about what some of our local Catholic schools are doing with the cross and why it is important to the faith-filled community of Holy Spirit School.

Treasures Fundraiser Reward “PJ and GUM Day” Friday! Thank You Kinbridge!

As part of our commitment to honour the efforts our students made to support our School Council, we are rewarding the whole school with a “PJ and GUM DAY” this Friday, December 1st. Please allow your child to wear some warm Pyjamas that are appropriate for our Winter weather. Each child will be provided with some Gum from Kinbridge Community Association. They are a wonderful organization for our community and a friend to Holy Spirit School. Also, if your child has a favourite gum type that they would like to bring in they are welcome to do so on Friday.

You can find great opportunities for your children in Kinbridge’s Winter Newsletter (below), as well as their website:
