Summer at Holy Spirit School

Happy Canada Day Eh!

Holy Spirit Families: Hopefully you get this message while you are spending time together as a family. Perhaps you had some Canadian Maple Syrup this morning, or will be doing something completely unique to your family this afternoon. We are proud to have so many wonderful families at Holy Spirit, and wish each and every Flame Family the best the day has to offer. From our family to yours, Happy Canada Day!

Summer Boost is Happening at Holy Spirit

Some parents may have signed up for this program, and we are excited to host it again at Holy Spirit School. The program supports learners in a classroom environment to improve their skills in numeracy, literacy and problem solving with technology. The picture below shows grade 3/4 students coding last summer. We are very excited to welcome all Summer Boost Students!

Knowledgehook Mathalon Winners Across the Divisions!

Numeracy is a big focus in our School Improvement Plan. One tool we have been using in grades 3-8 is Knowledgehook. Teachers set up personalized ‘missions’ for students, host ‘game show quizzes’ in their classroom to get instant feedback about their students’ learning needs. Teachers also have a tool to allow students to work toward completing challenging ‘Mathalons.’ The students have really enjoyed working toward earning their Math Medals and we are proud of the work they are putting in on improving their skills in Math. Great work Flames!

Some Sad Goodbyes …

There were several staff members leaving Holy Spirit school, including our fearless leader Mr. Dinner. Fortunately, as this message is being written Mr. Mendonca, our new Principal is unpacking and getting set up. He is very much looking forward to getting to know our community and supporting all the great things that Holy Spirit is famous for.

We would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our staff who have given so much to Holy Spirit, and wish you well in your next adventure. With appreciation, we highlight the wonderful contributions of the following individuals:

Mr. Sanders, Ms. Filipovich, Ms. Ribey, Ms. Winslow, Mrs. Caprio, Ms. MacDonald, Ms. Sartoretto, Mrs. Nguyen and Mrs. Ianni.
