Remembrance Day Liturgy Tomorrow at 10:45 AM

We hope you are able to join us in the gym tomorrow. Our Student Leadership Club has been working diligently preparing to lead our school in this important Liturgy. Also, check out this great artwork below by our grade 5 and 6 students that helped us reflect this past week.

Progress Reports and Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences are Complete.

We are so grateful that so many people came out to connect with our teachers and Early Childhood Educators about their child’s progress. Below is a picture of a father and daughter working on a Math Challenge on a VNPS (Vertical Non-Permanent Space) while they wait for their conference with the teacher. There is a lot of research that supports children spending some time engaged in challenging Math problems on a VNPS. They learn to collaborate and become more flexible in their approach to solving problems.

We are also grateful to our Bell Ringers for keeping us on track for the evening! They did a great job in Mrs. Lirusso’s seat…but I think they were happy to give it back the next day :).

If you did not have a chance to connect with your child’s teacher, please reach out and schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience. We value our parent partners and the dialogue about learning between educators and parents is an important contributing factor to your child’s success. Never hesitate to reach out.

Halloween FUNdraiser totals are in!

Holy Spirit Families: You have a lot to be excited about. After all the expenses like paying for the DJ and glowsticks etc., our school raised $11 923.76. WOW! Way to Go Holy Spirit School. This will make a huge difference toward the purchase of additional resources that will benefit the educational experience of all of our learners. AWESOME!

New Research Study from University of Waterloo is looking for participants.

Please check out the poster advertisement from UW. The researcher has been vetted and approved by WCDSB. Please consider signing up if your child wears glasses and meets the requirements of the study.

Holy Spirit  School is pleased to announce that we are offering a Homework Club designed specifically for Intermediate students. This club is supported through St. Louis Continuing Education Center and the Waterloo Catholic School Board. The program is FREE and is available to any intermediate student.

This program allows students to work/study in a quiet environment and to catch up on missed homework or get ahead.  It allows them to receive teacher assistance with projects, homework and assignments. This program is for students of all levels as it allows them to get their homework done in an environment where assistance is provided and access to school tools and media are available.
Homework Club will be offered BEFORE SCHOOL from 8:00-9:00 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in rm 119. The club will begin on November  5th, 2018. Students may arrive at any time up until 8:45am. They do not have to come to EVERY session, but increased participation in the program is recommended.

The Book Fair Was a HUGE Success!

Thanks you to Mrs. Brown for putting in so much work to create so many smiles at school and home. I caught a few of them below while they were in line waiting to buy a book. You know it is a good thing when you can smile in a line up!
