GREAT EIGHTS Return and The Week Ahead Will Make You Smile…

Our whole school was outside on Friday as we welcomed back our “GREAT EIGHT” students from their spiritual retreat at Mt. Mary. It was a fantastic experience rich with community building and personal reflection about the year ahead. A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Hersh, Mrs. Da Costa, Mrs. Di Giantomasso, Mr. Luciani and Mr. Mastroianni for their dedication to their students throughout the preparation and delivery of a fantastic learning experience. And this week is filled with even more smiles…quite literally…PICTURE DAY IS TUESDAY! Everyone should bring their brightest smiles. But the smiles continue well after the flash and into the evening as we welcome all families to join us for our annual Meet the Teacher BBQ. Food will be available for purchase and the delicious burgers are cooked to perfection by Remember Me catering company. Enjoy catching up with friends and taking a peek into your child’s classroom. All the fun begins at 6:00PM on Tuesday! We hope everyone is able to join us.

Please Complete All Cash Online Permission Forms

An essential part of any successful start up is when we complete the necessary paperwork to safely operate through the year. Essential forms such as your permission for your child to walk to church or for us to celebrate your child’s success with a team photo or even things like paying for your child’s school agenda is completed through cash online. Please take a few moments to complete this annual task to ensure your child’s year is off to a great start.

Hot Lunch Orders

Many students choose to participate in our hot lunch program. Each Wednesday we have a different vendor and every Friday is Pizza Day. Please do not feel obligated to participate in every hot lunch offering that we provide. However, when you choose to use the service, all of the proceeds go directly to programs that enhance the educational experience of all students at Holy Spirit School. All are welcome to participate when it works for your family.

Construction Starting on Junior/Intermediate Natural Playground

After many planning meetings and tireless efforts from Ashley King, Phase 2 of the Natural Playground is under Construction! There is construction fencing in place around the work being done and students will be completely safe during the building process. We look forward to the final product which should be completed in 3 or 4 weeks, weather permitting.

Terry Fox Run Coming Up On Thursday, September 27th

On Thursday September 27th, 2018, Holy Spirit School will be proudly participating in a Terry Fox School Walk.  Over 8500 schools across Canada are taking part in the Run/Walk this year and that means that over 3 million students will be fundraising for cancer research in Terry’s name.  Here at Holy Spirit, we feel hat coming together as a school community for this walk allows us to celebrate the life of Terry Fox, his Marathon of Hope and it also allows us to show our incredible school spirit as we come together to help others. Students are encouraged to wear their Holy Spirit Gear or Red and White for this walk.

Our walk this year is an opportunity to take action, show leadership and make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer.  We are all touched by cancer in some way and it is up to us to take action. And so, for this year our fundraising goal is $1,300.00.  To help us reach our goal, each student is asked to donate a Toonie for Terry. We know we can do this! We are an incredible school filled with school spirit and we know we can meet this challenge head on, just like Terry did!
